Person is Asleep

Astral Journeys Thru Imaginal Realms

Person is Asleep is a mystical-audio experience designed to enhance the imaginative faculties and support travel in the subjective non-places known as “imaginal realms.” Created and curated by 21st century wizard Devin Person, the album begins with an orientation to your astral body, using hypnotic language and consciousness-expanding audio (best listened to on headphones) to aid listeners in entering a mystical trance ideal for journeying.

From there, we offer a series of soundscapes created by experimental musicians Josh Millrod, Kevin Pelrine, Please No Radio, Ari Freeman, Cookie Tongue, and MAKS to aid your dreaming mind in its explorations. The titles of each track are a nod to various imaginal realms from historical and fictional mythological systems, but we encourage listeners to treat these as little more than suggestions, and let their own imaginations guide them without imposing direction or control.

The term “imaginal realms” is borrowed from philosopher, theologian, and professor of Islamic Studies Henry Corbin’s essay, “Mundus Imaginalus, or the Imaginary and Imaginal.” Corbin suggests “imaginal realms” as an appropriate term for the Persian “Na-koja-Abad,” which translates literally as, “Land of Nowhere.” While lacking the concrete attributes of our physical world, these imaginal realms are real in another sense, and can be accessed reliably through the practice and development of the imagination.

Our hope is that this recording facilitates the practice and development of your own powerful and innate imagination.
